When you submit a loan application, we pull your credit bureau report — this is a 'hard enquiry' that is recorded on your CIBIL report and reduces your score by approximately 5–10 points. Hard enquiries remain on your report for 2 years. Checking your own score (on CIBIL, Experian, or a credit monitoring app) is a 'soft enquiry' and does not affect your score. We recommend not applying to multiple lenders simultaneously, as each application generates a separate hard enquiry.
